Where QuantLab differs

QuantLab records the prop account values you choose: profit target, maximum drawdown, drawdown used, and consistency limit. It calculates maximum drawdown and evaluates the configured consistency rule. That makes the journal useful for reviewing an evaluation, but the firm dashboard still controls official status.

Tradovate uses OAuth, and you initiate its history sync. ProjectX credentials support selected accounts, including Topstep. A ProjectX connection can refresh after its last sync is more than 30 minutes old. For unsupported brokers, you can map a CSV. The journal skips a row it has already imported for your user.

The linked backtester is free and uses delayed futures bars. QuantLab also publishes historical probability reports, a daily bias board, and four opted-in bot journals. The bot record keeps losing periods visible instead of presenting only selected wins.

When TradesViz is the better pick

TradesViz is the better pick if you require a native-app option. The supplied market research identified listings in both the Apple App Store and Google Play. QuantLab offers a web application only.

TradesViz may also be the better pick if you want an established product with public profiles across more third-party surfaces. MARKET.md found a Trustpilot profile, a G2 seller page, and app listings. It also appeared in page-one search results for journal software, Tradovate sync, and futures backtesting. QuantLab did not appear on page one for the buying-intent searches tested. Verify whether the current TradesViz plan covers the exact connections and tools you need.

What reviewers said to check

TradesViz complaint themes in the supplied sources include account access, bugs, sync, support, billing, statistics, complexity, and price. One App Store reviewer wrote, “no option to do so with the app,” referring to Google sign-in.

These are individual low-rating reviews. Test the sign-in route you plan to use and import a short period with known totals. Compare each execution, fee, and net result with the broker statement. If you test backtesting, use a known date range and confirm missing sessions. Apply the same checks to QuantLab's importer and delayed-data backtester.

A practical decision

Choose QuantLab when its supported futures import paths and prop account settings match your review. Choose TradesViz when its current product supports your broker and you value native-app listings or its longer third-party footprint.

Do not migrate a full history first. Use one account and a small date range, reconcile it, then decide which journal produces a record you understand. Review official limits in the firm's current rulebook. The prop firm trading journal guide explains the separation between official account status and journal analysis. QuantLab Journal is free during beta.
